Kumite Ryu Jujitsu aims to use the powerfulness of Shotokan Karate, the agility of Boxing, the speed of Arnis Stick Fighting and the nerve attacks and joint locking of Jujutsu. As a “soft” art, Kumite Ryu Jujutsu utilizes the principle of balance, leverage, and momentum to overcome its opponents.
As a “hard” style it emphasize speed, strength and power. It’s joint-locking techniques (Kansetsu– Waza), strikes (atemi) and the art of breaking balance (kuzushi) compound all of the other elements.
As a complete system, Kumite Ryu Jujutsu, possess speed, form, technique, power and gracefulness.
Kumite Ryu Jujutsu in it’s true form, is not a sport. There are no rules, no “fair play” in the application of self-defense techniques. It can be barbaric and brutal. In an attack, the ability to overcome is a must. While damage to the opponent must be quick (maximum efficiency with minimum efforts), the goal is always do whatever it takes to survive the situation. This belief holds strong to all practitioner of Kumite Ryu Jujutsu.
The student creed summarizes this view: “A man or woman in the martial arts….As we walk, we walk in peace and fear will not prevail….we fight to survive.
